The calculator offers two splitting methods:
Splitwise is the most popular — it tracks who paid for what and calculates balances automatically. Tricount and Settle Up are great alternatives.
Track every expense with who paid. At the end, calculate total spent by each person, then average per person. Those who paid less owe those who paid more.
Use unequal split! Remove that cost from total shared expense, or have that person pay less while others pay more for that activity.
Either split equally (easiest for groups) or use separate bills (if restaurant allows). For large groups, equal split is usually fairest.
Use a standard conversion rate (Google or XE.com). Settle in one currency to avoid confusion. Apps like Splitwise handle multi-currency automatically.
Divide by number of rooms if couples share, or by number of people if everyone gets a bed. Our calculator does equal split — adjust manually for different room types.
